The Things You Need in Your Tool Box
by Milton Schoenberg

You can save yourself money by doing some of
your own simple repairs around the home instead of
calling a repair man every time a little repair job
arises. If you~re new to home repair you may be
unsure about what types of tools you~ll need to use
and where to start. One of the first things that
you~ll need is a tool box that is filled with all the
tools that you may need for many different kinds of
repair jobs. You many want to buy a repair manual
to get you started on your way to doing your own
home repairs.

No tool box is complete without a hammer. You
won~t need to buy an expensive hammer, just one
that handles the easy jobs. Since there are so many
styles of hammers that you can buy you~ll have to
narrow down your search. Look for a hammer that
fits nicely into your hand and has a good grip.

A measuring tape is another important tool to have.
There will be many home repair situations where
you~ll need to take measurements. Tape measures
also come in handy if you are looking for a new
piece of furniture. Rather than guessing if a certain
piece will fit into your home, take measurements
and buy with confidence.

Screwdrivers are an absolute must for your tool
box. You can purchase a manual screwdriver or a
power screwdriver. A simple manual one is perfect
for most situations. Since you will likely need a
number of sizes the best choice is one with
detachable bits. You~ll get virtually ever size you~ll
ever need without having to purchase a full set.

For those times when you need to tighten bolts, a
wrench will come in handy. Keep one in your tool
box so that you~re prepared for all repair jobs. It~s a
good idea to buy an adjustable wrench so that it can
be used for all sizes of bolts.

Another tool that you may need in your tool box for
all your home repairs is a pair of pliers. Whenever
possible you~ll want to buy tools that are adjustable
so that you have more versatility with your tools
and so that they take up less room in your tools box.

There are many other tools and accessories you can
add to your tool box as time goes on. You will also
need supplies such as nails, screws, bolts, etc. By
starting out with these few tools you don~t have to
spend a mint to enable yourself to do some fix-it
projects yourself.
